West good, East bad

An amazing example of consumer whimsicality and downright stupidity. Not unlike the earlier French wine example. Is it just overly picky American consumers? I can’t think of a Russian settling for anything Chinese in the presence of a Canadian alternative at around the same price (unless she is privy to specific information on the Chinese good’s superiority). Even if China caught up in every respect, “Made in Canada” would still be prestigious here. West good, East bad. What can you do?

(Not applicable to Japan until they started outsourcing assembly.)
