Condolences to all whom the attack afflicted. Let us keep silence for a minute.

“Fewer flags, please,” says Christopher Hitchens, “and more grit.” He invokes a not so old French saying: “Always think of it. Never speak of it.” Not literarily so, but I concur in the spirit. More from C.H.:

What is required is a steady, unostentatious stoicism, made up out of absolute, cold hatred and contempt for the aggressors, and complete determination that their defeat will be utter and shameful. <...>

The time to commemorate the fallen is, or always has been, after the war is over. This war has barely begun.

It is still our right — our part — to “murmur name upon name”.
