Now this is poetry
LanguageHat has a post about a New Yorker review of a book on King James Bible… and the word irenicon. The point is, LH quotes a short poem by Philip Larkin; it is a masterpiece. The whole of it is; its inner logic is perfect; but if you’re not convinced, just keep repeating the first line — preferably pronouncing “grass” the English way — “how sweet the sound”:
Cut grass lies frail…
Wonder what KJBiblical associations are there.
