Commenting on this entry, a gentle reader who goes by Michael reminds me that, judging by Russian e-press reports, Russian school curricula are again being modified to the exclusion of authors such as Akhmatova, Mandelstam, Solzhenitsyn, who, apart from their literary achievements, spoke their conscience in times of totalitarian oppression and “form a significant aspect of the country’s social/cultural history” now.

I am no expert on Russian schools, but I know that school and college education reform has been a hot topic since the late 1980s, and it seems that schools have been incessantly being reformed for all this time.
