A bumper sticker in Moscow

Thou shalt not steal!
The government doesn’t like competitors

Original or a translation? Probably the latter – any ideas?

  1. This bumper sticker has been around in the US for years. Sometimes the letters IRS (Internal Revenue Service) are substituted for ‘government’.

  2. Thanks! This is what I suspected. The key word in Russia though has to be “government” meaning the whole system in general: it is not that taxes are high (they are not) but the bureaucracy is oversized and expensive.
