The Nemtsov memorial march, one year later

Boris Nemtsov was killed on February 27, 2015.

Thousands of Russians marched through Moscow to honor slain Kremlin critic Boris Nemtsov on Saturday, the first anniversary of his death, and to press their demand that the authorities find and punish the person who ordered his killing.

This is from Reuters’ concise report. Radio Liberty has a video on the march. Only one picture from me this time.

The route from Pushkin Square to Sakharov Street, along the Boulevard Ring, seems to be the most convenient compromise between the Moscow mayor’s office and the opposition. Perhaps one day it will be a pedestrian zone and people will be able to walk slowly to enjoy the view of the buildings – old apartment houses, mansions, monasteries and churches.

The oriental-themed building across the street, on the corner of Petrovsky Boulevard and Krapivnikovsky Lane (pereulok), was designed by Sergei Rodionov as a guest house for the patriarchate of Constantinople and completed by 1898.
