Pro-choicers and pro-lifers are given to hurling accusations at each other, including the inevitable charge of racism. It is said that restricting minority women’s access to abortion would make their lives even harder. Perhaps a good deal of the pro-lifers are out to spite the poor and the non-white – who knows? – but if they were strategically racist, so to say, they would be focused on maintaining the white majority’s numerical advantage. To that end, promoting abortion along with the use of contraceptives among minorities would make far more sense, cynically speaking.
