I.M.R.R.

The Magnificent Seven was wildly popular in the USSR, but, contrary to what a Russian TV channel claimed yesterday, Ronald Reagan did not star in that movie. But if he had–what a tempting ex-possibility–I wonder if that western would have gotten banned in 1980.

The same channel also quoted Reagan’s ‘favorite Russian joke’ (he allegedly collected Russian jokes about himself–a handful compared with Brezhnev stuff). The way they told it, the zesty ending was taken out of it, so it’s my duty to link to the full version. California would seem more logical, but considering that the Bering Strait is only 7 km wide and freezes in winter, Alaska makes perfect sense too.
