Disaster in Odessa

Howard Amos reporting live from Odessa, where pro-Russian crowds are storming the police headquarteres to free the pro-Russian militants (and, I fear, butcher the pro-Kyiv detainees). Via February 31st.

Amos links to a blog post (in Russia) detailing the tragic confrontation in Odessa on May 2. I have read similar versions elsewhere on Russian sites/networks. In two words, pro-Russian militants attacked pro-Kyiv football fans while the police did nothing to prevent the violence. Eventually, a number of pro-Russians were encircled by the pro-Kyiv fans as well as other locals in the Trade Union building. It caught fire – it’s not clear to me who started it – and about 40 people died.
