Oliver Carroll, The Independent‘s man in Moscow, tweeted this on Tuesday, the day when England played against Columbia at the Spartak Stadium in the north-west of Moscow:

So far the Colombians have offered salsa, carnival, indigenous music, pantomime and fantastic wigs. The English? They are now singing “no surrender to the ira”.

OK, so what? It’s English fans being English fans – surely you didn’t expect them to salsa and pantomime their way up and down Nikolskaya Street. If Russians could understand those slurred accents, they would’ve joined in the WWII songs. It’s indigenous music all right.
