The crisis in Moscow: the third rally

Estimates of the size of yesterday’s rallies in Moscow are all problematic because groups of protesters turned up in different places unexpectedly and sometimes dispersed before police showed up to attack and detain them.

A crowd of mostly young people marched up the pedestrian Arbat street carrying this big banner, “Freedom to political prisoners!”

As before, the protesters behaved in a remarkably civil, non-violent way.

The police acted as lawlessly and brutally as they did on the previous Saturday, sometimes even beating and arresting random passers-by or bystanders. These videos (1, 2, 3) and image galleries (1, 2) from yesterday could help to get a feel of what happened.
