[Koshlyakov]

Valery Koshliakov is a renowned Russian painter whose preferred media are, inter alia, cardboard and scotch tape, and subjects are above all depictions of Europe’s. I first learned of Koshliakov’s achievements from All About Poetry, an unfinished online oeuvre by Miroslav Nemirov, a remarkably gifted and rather unconventional Russian poet.

[Nominal note. Valery (vah-LEH-riy) is a Russian male name of Latin origin (possibly via Greek)–compare Valerius as in Valerius Catullus. Its female counterpart is Valeria (vah-LEH-ree-yah), similar in pronunciation to the Spanish and Italian versions (Valeria Mazza comes to mind).]
