Assorted KGB scum wants to ban anonymizing software in Russia, again (I mentioned this disgusting idea back in September 2012; this link is in Russian, courtesy of the great Russian blogger Denis Yatsutko). On the one hand, all such bans can be circumvented; on the other, the very idea is sickening and makes one want to escape this boring nightmare of a country.
It’s pretty much obvious that the Russian authorities want citizens to stay ignorant in every respect. That’s why ”democracy now” does not make much sense for Russia until the regime loses its total grip on the media. Of course people will vote for Putin and Putinism because they are – let’s face it – too benighted at the moment to figure out the alternatives.
